Haikyuu fans can now experience life inside their favorite high school with this indie game, Haikyuu Otome. As the name suggests, it is an otome game that features the popular volleyball anime series, Haikyuu!! In this game, players will have the chance to experience the life of a student in one of the high schools featured in the anime. Moreover, they will have a chance to become a club member. Note, however, that the game is still in the pre-alpha stage. With this, the content will be very limited. 

The start of your high school life

Haikyuu Otome simulates the life of a high school student in one of the featured schools in Haikyuu. In the game, you will play as a new student looking for a club to join. With your friends, Alice and Richiyo—both original characters—you will explore the clubs that are looking for new members. Aside from the girls' and boys' volleyball clubs, you will have the option to join the art club, photography club, and even the soccer club. However, when you join the sports club, you will only get to become the manager. 

Unlike some visual novel games, you can name your character. Moreover, you can choose your gender. However, your appearance is already set. Don’t worry, though. It won’t mean much since the game is mostly played from a first-person’s point of view. 

As noted, the game is still in the pre-alpha version. The full game is still in the works, so the content of the game is very much limited. In fact, there isn’t much in the game aside from the characters’ introduction and the clubs that you can join. Plus, while in the menu option, it has three prefectures and six schools that you can choose from, only Karasuno High School is available. Worse, there are no canon characters introduced yet aside from the vice-principal.

A peek of what’s to come

With Haikyuu Otome, hardcore fans will have the chance to live out the fantasy of becoming a student alongside their favorite volleyball team—that is, if the game will actually feature the volleyball team. However, since the content of the game is limited, players will only meet two original characters. The game has yet to include the canon characters. Moreover, there are still no club activities that you can do. As it is, this version is more like a peek of what the game will offer in the future.
