Live in the Haikyuu-verse

Haikyuu Otome is a free simulation game authored by indie developer Nahla for the fans of the popular anime series, Haikyuu. As the name suggests, it is an otome game wherein players can become a student of their favorite high school from the series. Moreover, they can even become a club member of the volleyball club. However, Haikyuu Otome is still in the pre-alpha version. There is no other school available other than Karasuno. Plus, there isn’t much in the game, aside from the introduction.

Join the club

Haikyuu Otome is a life simulation game that features the Haikyuu-verse. It lets you live the life of a student in one of the schools introduced in the series. It also introduces you to some original characters—Alice and Richiyo—who will be with you as you go along the game. Unlike other visual novel games, you have the choice of naming your character. You also have a choice in your gender. However, you don’t have a say in your character’s looks. This does not mean much, though, since the game is played from a first-person perspective

Once your character is set, you and your friends can go around the school looking for a club to join. There are five clubs that you can join: boys' volleyball, girls' volleyball, art, soccer, and photography. Before you officially join the club, the game allows you to explore and get information by having a club member explain the club activities. Note that when you join the sports club, you will only become the manager and not the player.

As noted, this game is a pre-alpha version—meaning the full game is still in the works. In fact, what you can get from this version is just the introduction. You can only set your character and choose a club. Moreover, while it has three prefectures and six school choices, you can only go to Karasuno. To make it worse, it has not introduced any of the canon characters aside from the vice-principal.

Just a teaser

Haikyuu Otome is a chance for fans of the popular series to live out their fantasy of living alongside their favorite volleyball team—that is, if the game will actually allow them to. As it is now, however, there isn’t much in the game aside from the three main characters—you and your other two friends—and the club that you join. No canon cast has appeared, and there is no club activity that you can do yet. This version is more like a teaser of what’s to come in the full game.

I recommend this game but it would be nice if there was more to it than just the short amount of time to play. I installed it and played all of it so far as it only lasted a few minutes. Maybe focusing on just Karasuno and then once that's finished,  More
